V. Carl George wins MGVR "Parish Award" at Watkins Glen

MGA racer Carl George of Brentwood, Tennessee, was selected as the first recipient of the new annual MG Vintage Racers' "Bill Parish Master of Speed Deception Award" at SVRA's Zippo Vintage Grand Prix race weekend, this September at Watkins Glen, where 143 MGs were racing. The award is sponsored by Parish-Heacock Insurance, and supported by MGVR. This new award is in memory of long time MG Racer Bill Parish - a founding member of both SVRA and MGVR. Bill Passed away in 1998 from cancer. The award's winner is selected on a basis of how Bill Parish loved MG vintage racing. Using the criteria of a MG racer "Having the Most Fun" and being a "Master of Speed Deception", while "Racing their MG throughout the season - and years- unconcerned about race winning - just for the fun of it".

Carl George started vintage racing in a stock MGTD at Mid-Ohio in 1982, and shortly after moved to his MGA which he has raced ever since. Carl was also a member of the Nashville "Zapata" MG racing team, who's main focus was enjoying vintage racing and having fun. They even had their own paddock "chef" at the races! We're all sure the selection of Carl would bring a smile to Bill up there.
