 March Updates

The "Mitty" at Road Atlanta in April
Historic Sportscar Racing's (HSR), "Mitty" vintage car races, is coming together nicely for the weekend of April 28th - May 1st. at Road Atlanta, Ga.  It is also MGVR's designated "Focus Event" for 2005.  The MGVR support team is coordinating with the "Friends of Triumph", HSR, the track, clubs, and sponsors, to help stage a great weekend for everyone.  A large turnout of MGs and Triumphs is expected to compete for bragging rights in the featured Moss Motor's "MG-Triumph Challenge" race.  MG-Triumph entries are already over 80 cars (may approach 100 or more by race day), and so HSR has split the MG-Triumph group into TWO classes.  The slower MGs & Triumphs in one class - and the faster ones in the other.  Kas Kastner - of Triumph fame - will be a featured speaker at the MG-Triumph dinner, and Kent Prather - 5 time SCCA national champ with his MGA - will be talking also. Noted MG authority John Twist of University Motors, also plans to be there.  This is being promoted as a race and club event.  Many other activities are included all weekend long - many being coordinated by Classic Motorsports (see their May Issue).  Car show, valve cover racing, club stuff, vendors, tech stuff, and much more.  A great event for drivers, crews, and spectators.  Check out HSR's web site at www.hsrrace.com (or call 1-888-477-5999), or Classic Motorsport's web site at:  www.classicmotorsports.net  or MG Vintage Racers' site at:  www.MGVR.org.

VARAC Vintage Festival at Mosport in June
VARAC will have their annual  "Simms Cup" for MGs at their vintage racing festival at Mosport, the weekend of June 24-26th.  It is an award given to the driver racing an MG there that they judge to be the: -best prepared, -best driven, and -period correct.  Not necessarily the race winner.  It is in honor of Tony Simms, who was a pioneering MG racer in Canada.  This year's event is also hosting part of the "Am-Can Challenge Series" for 2005.  And good value for your buck in Canada.  Lots of great vintage cars racing.  It's always a fun event for everyone!  For more info, go to VARAC's web site:  www.varac.ca/Fest_welcome.html.

SVRA's Zippo VGP in September
In September, look forward to SVRA's Zippo Vintage Grand Prix, which includes the Collier Cup  race for MGs at Watkins Glen, as this tradition continues to grow.  It might not be like the block buster of 2004, but it is always a great event, with many MGs, other vintage race cars, clubs there, the downtown vintage car festival, and many vacation opportunities in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of NY. More info, contact SVRA at:  www.SVRA.com.

VSCCA at Lime Rock Park in October
VSCCA Activities Chairman, Bob Klingenburg in a letter  to VSCCA members, mentioned the following:
.... We are planning something a little special at our Finale in October '05 at Lime Rock Park.  Since '05 is the 50th anniversary of the MGA, we will focus on the MG marque in '05.  Details are to be finalized but all members who own an MG of any kind should plan on making it to the Finale this year.  Special run groups for the marque and a dedicated MG race are certain to be included. ...
This is a VSCCA club event.  Event chairman is  Andrew Hiller.  E-mail carndrew@aol.com,
